Vale Roy Wales

Roy Wales conducting Chorale in 2017
It is with much sadness that we share the news that Brisbane Chorale’s founder and patron Roy Wales BEM passed away recently at his home in the UK, surrounded by his family.
We owe our very existence to Roy, and those of us who remember his time with us treasure the memory of his humour, his inspirational enthusiasm as a choral director, and his vision for us as a new and enduring musical force in Brisbane and beyond.
His mark on choral music in Australia, made many years ago now, is indelible and ongoing. We are proud and grateful to continue to express his vision, in every rehearsal and every performance.

War Requiem video

Available now on our YouTube channel, the video of our performance of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem recorded in September 2023 in the Concert Hall of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

Also appearing with Brisbane Chorale were the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Q, Canticum Chamber Choir, the Voices of Birralee, and our three fabulous soloists: Eva Kong, Andrew Goodwin, and Hadleigh Adams, with our conductor Simon Hewett.
